Alek J. Hidell Lee Harvey Oswald's alias, with which he ordered his Mannlicher-Carcano at the Klein's Sporting Goods shop. The Mannlicher-Carcano is presented by the Warren Commission as the weapon that killed Kennedy. According to some researchers, this alias might originate from a friend Oswald had while in the Marine Corps, a certain John Heindel who used the nickname 'Hidell'. For Pierre et Renée Grosset ('L'homme qui crut tuer Kennedy'), the friend's name was really Hidell, which was convenient for Oswald, had he been in need of true documents. For them, the Hidell alias also had two advantages for Oswald : it reminded of Doctor Jekyll and Mr Hyde... and rhymed with 'Fidel'.
