Louis Witt

Louis Witt

Witness

He claimed to be the famous "Umbrella Man" who plays an important part in many conspiracy theories.

This "Umbrella Man" who was on Dealey Plaza on November 22, 1963, opened and waved his black umbrella when the presidential limousine arrived, at the precise moment when the shooting started.

Louis Witt only appeared during the HSCA investigation, and explained that the umbrella opening was a political sign of protest against JFK. It was not raining in Dallas during the motorcade's trip, and Witt pretended that the black umbrella refered to JFK's father's isolationist policy. Joe Kennedy, who was the former US ambassador in the UK, supported Neville Chamberlain's doctrine. Chamberlain was so associated to the umbrella he was always carrying with him that the object was even given his name.
