Melvin Belli

A famous California attorney, he was Jack Ruby's lawyer when the latter was tried for Lee Harvey Oswald's killing.

His line of defense was that Ruby had been temporarily irresponsible when the murder occurred, because of a psychomotor epileptic seizure. But the jury did not believe his arguments and sentenced Ruby to death, which resulted in Belli being fired by the Ruby family after the trial.
